What does the phrase “Vetted Republican” mean?
I use the phrase Vetted Republican in my campaign materials, signs, and shirts. It is an important part of my campaign for Ottawa County Commissioner because I want to be transparent about what I believe. I want to be accountable to the people I am seeking to represent.
The goal of Ottawa Impact’s vetting process is to discover if there is alignment between a candidate who want to run for office and the:
- Position Statement
- Contract with Ottawa
- US and Michigan Constitutions
- Republican Party Platform, and more.

The mission of Ottawa Impact is to preserve and protect the individual rights of the people in Ottawa County. These rights include freedom of speech, freedom of association, religious liberty, due process, and sanctity of conscience. These are essential qualities of liberty and freedom.
Vetted Republicans prioritize We The People. President Ronald Reagan said:
“We the People tell the Government what to do—it doesn’t tell us.”
The basic obligation of local government is to defend people’s rights. People serving in local government must always prioritize the citizens.
I am thankful to be a Vetted Republican, and will continue working hard to preserve and protect the freedoms and values that make Ottawa County great!
