In 2023, Governor Whitmer and radical Democrats in Lansing, Michigan, passed a bad law that effectively strips local control for approving “green energy scam” projects at the township level. This new system allows the State to approve projects and force townships to accept them. Due to this bad law, many bad solar, wind, and battery projects are being proposed that have residents pitted against their local elected officials.
PA233 was created to cause division in conservative, rural communities. The Democrats knew many rural communities would oppose solar farms and battery plants. They knew residents would demand their local elected officials stop the proposals. This new law, passed under the Democrat trifecta, created the perfect storm to create division in 2026, an election year where Democrats are desperate to maintain control in Lansing.
Power companies are incentivized (forced) by the State of Michigan to support the climate justice movement. Governor Whitmer’s MI Healthy Climate Plan is pushing “intermittent” power sources (e.g. – unreliable), and demanding power companies shut down base load energy sources like coal power plants. The Democrats are prioritizing what they call “equity and environmental justice” over reliable energy.
According to Democrats, Michigan needs hundreds of battery storage facilities across Michigan because they are phasing out reliable power sources like the J.H. Campbell coal power plant. As solar and wind facilities are built, and base load energy production is reduced, the energy grid will become less stable, and the need for battery backup will increase.
Local government is charged with protecting life, liberty, and property. This includes actively working with citizens to determine what type of solar, wind, and battery projects should be permitted in their communities.
Michigan must protect farmland across the state and be cautious when foreign-owned companies want to eliminate farmland for profit.
PA233 is bad policy and should be repealed. It’s unpopular with people across the political spectrum. Learn more about the Democrats’ radical Climate Plan: https://michigan.gov/…/climate…/mi-healthy-climate-plan
